Oh I don't judge them like that. I know that people generally act according to the best knowledge they have when faced with unbelievable pressures, and these JWs were in a very bizarre situation. They certainly got off better than the Jews. I wonder if, like the Soviet prisoners, some chose death over giving the SS any help whatsoever...

Does this count as Nazi collaboration?
by Julia Orwell ina jw friend of mine visited the site of auschwitz-berkenau and bought a book on jws in auschwitz which documents which jws were in the camp, which ones died, and what they did while they were there.
known as honest and industrious workers, a lot of them, especially women, were employed as domestic help in the homes of the ss commanders.
this is well documented.

Today I Da'd -Twenty-five years ago. Regrets -some.
by Xanthippe inyes twenty-five years ago today we sent in our da letter.
some regrets, not about leaving the cult obviously, but sometimes when i read about people slowly fading and keeping in touch with family and friends i wonder if we should have done that.
of course it was before the internet in 1989 so we didn't know about people fading.. one day we were driving along and we had been talking about moving congregations because we knew something was wrong but of course we thought it was local.

How many in the cong visited you when you started fading
by joe134cd ini'm just curious speaking from a person who has stopped going to meetings.
i have heard reports from inactive ones (or from ones who the elders suspect of going to the dark side) of having so many visits from elders (cong members) that it got to the point of harassment.
surprisingly i have to say from personal experience and from numerous others that i have spoken to that the exact opposite has been the case.

I'm certainly no hot babe. A lot of these people considered themselves my friends and were concerned about my eternal welfare. The co was put up to it by congregation politics, into which my 'apostasy' witch hunt got in the middle of. Then maybe other elders wanted to catch me out in apostasy, and my husband had a jw mentor figure who really did care. Also, they would have needed someone else to do the sound and magazine counter when he left.

Seven elders at one time or other, phone calls from a couple, CO even came on his own, the jw who converted me all those years ago came twice plus emailed, a pioneer friend and his friend, elder drop in during witnessing: got to the point I'd freak when a car pulled up which wasn't good because a lot of people always park near our house. hasn't been anyone for nearly six months now but the first six months had heaps.

Tainted Love: Your JW wedding
by Julia Orwell inmine was actually great because my non-jw parents decided to pay for the reception, limo, cake, dress, honeymoon, and more.
i can thank my non-jw parents for what a totally fun day it was.. but, half or more of the guests were jws, jws who don't speak to me anymore.
some have even slandered and abused me.

The jw wedding stories I've heard are of weddings done on the cheap. My hubby was a guest at one and all the guests were put to work cooking, serving, cleaning at the reception: my husband was put to work as bar tender. Others their parents wouldn't pay squat for the wedding and I've been to a couple where you've had to pay for your own part of the reception! And of course jw weddings the groom is expected to oversee everything and make sure no one drinks too much. Then there's the judgment. A middle age sister at my wedding danced a lot as we had a do and dance floor and she got tsk tsk at...

I remember going into bouts of depression and anxiety over articles like this because I was hearing, "No matter what you do Julia, it's never enough." Like a kid who no matter what good grades she gets, her parents say, "Why didn't you get an even better one?" Makes people feel like crap because they're never good enough.

Well if they don't use fear to keep worshippers they don't need to trundle ol' Satan out that much.

Mine was actually great because my non-JW parents decided to pay for the reception, limo, cake, dress, honeymoon, and more. I can thank my non-JW parents for what a totally fun day it was.
But, half or more of the guests were JWs, JWs who don't speak to me anymore. Some have even slandered and abused me. The best man was a JW, and my two bridesmaids. One is now dfd and still my friend, so looking back on my wedding pictures isn't totally bad because she's in them. So many other ones though have JWs in and around them. So many are in the KH from which we faded last year. We have photos from inside it on the wall, with my husband holding a NWT from which he was asked to read as part of the ceremony.
Those people, that place: although the day itself was great fun, there lingers a JW taint to it which will never go away, thus tarnishing the memory of the happiest day of my life. We've just gone 3 years married and are moving on with life, but I can't help but look back on our wedding day with a bit of regret that so many of the people who came and ate and partied at my parents' expense won't even talk to us anymore. Some of those people I now remember with a lot of pain caused by the manner in which they broke the friendship.
But, there were a lot of non-JWs there, family and friends, and they are still my friends! The JW taint remains however, never to be removed...
What was your JW wedding like? If you are still with that spouse, does the JW wedding memory leave you feeling a little tainted?

Will you make SACRIFICES for the kingdom? WT
by bruh2012 inpar 10 - "significant funds are needed to support kingdom activities.
each year tens of millions of dollars are spent caring for the expenses of traveling overseers, special pioneers and missionaries".. so the gb wants you to support their "kingdom interest", but can care less about the local congregation pioneers who for some struggle to make ends meet, who use their gas driving all around the territory putting wear and tear on their cars sometimes not getting gas money to take care of their expenses, let alone any repairs needed.
talking about highway robbery!.

Good point, passive resistance. The ones who did view it as Nazi collaboration and turned it down probably didn't live to tell about it, like the people in the Soviet GULAG.
